Due to exceptional demand, we are looking to increase our team at The Vale Resort and are currently recruiting for a Casual Fitness Instructor. The Vale Resort is an award winning, four-star Hotel, Comprising of 143 bedrooms with five food outlets, two championship golf courses, and Wales’ largest spa, health and racquets club. We also offer state of the art sporting facilities and host top-flight international and club teams. Recent expansion of our Resort includes Hensol Castle, transformed into a luxury and unique wedding and events venue, proving extremely popular. Recent renovation of the Grade I listed Castle has now opened 23 luxury bedrooms along with award winning Distillery, gin school and visitor attraction tucked away in the cellar.
About the Role
Working as part of the Resort Leisure Club Team, you will contribute to the general running of the Leisure Club by implementing the Resorts standards, ensuring all members are inducted in a safe and effective manner, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere is promoted within the Club.
Main Duties
- To be fully knowledgeable of the Health and Racquets Club, and the Resort facilities on offer to potential members and guests.
- To induct all members on the safe and effective use of all gym equipment.
- To design, monitor and develop safe suitable exercise programs for all members which are relative to their personal goals.
- To assist members through encouragement and motivation in achieving their goals by being highly visible in the gym environment and providing proactive engagement with members.
- To assist in the development of the member retention strategy by assisting with gym challenges, classes and training events.
- To follow the department housekeeping procedures ensuring the equipment within the club is cleaned and maintained at all times.
- To regularly check all club equipment ensuring it is safe for use, putting any faulty equipment out of use and reporting the faulty equipment to the fitness manager or directly to the supplier.
- To provide cover throughout the club as the needs of the business dictates.
- To carry out pool and spa testing and any other daily testing tasks as and when required.
- To use the gym diary and email communication to communicate all relevant information to instructors on subsequent shifts.
- To follow the opening and closing procedures when on an early or late shift.
- To be available as per staff Rota to show potential members around the Leisure facilities and promote the positive benefits to becoming a Leisure and a Resort member.
- To answer any telephone calls to the gym in a professional manner, answering queries, taking appointments or passing on messages.
- To take responsibility for the leisure club reception as per Rota requirements, greeting members in a friendly and professional manor, answering calls, booking swimming lessons and classes.
- To ensure all feedback is communicated to the relevant departments and all necessary information is included in the daily handover.
- To ensure any member and guest complaints or queries are followed through in an effective, professional and timely manner.
- To be economical in energy consumption highlighting any bad practice and correcting where necessary.
- To contribute to your own personal development by highlighting training needs to your line manager.
- To attend functions and promotions as the needs of the business dictate.
- To assist within the Leisure Club as the needs of the business dictate.
About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a similar role and will be a team player and driven to achieve high standards. You must hold a Level 3 Fitness qualification to be considered for this role.
